Commemorative Winning Poster for 2026
The Schomberg Village Association is delighted to announce Sherry Paymani as the winner of the 2026 A Main Street Christmas Poster Competition.
This year’s competition received the largest number of submissions in its four-year history. Every entry was amazing, making the final decision incredibly difficult. We even joked about whether we could create more than one poster so we could showcase more of the wonderful artwork submitted!
Sherry’s winning painting features the old Shur-Gain grain elevator—the iconic orange building at the entrance to Schomberg that has become a familiar and much-loved local landmark.
Sherry shared the following description with her submission:
“This painting captures the old grain elevator at the entrance to Schomberg, a landmark that has watched over the village for generations. For our family, it means far more than its history. It’s the marker that tells us we’re home. Whether I’m driving my daughter to classes or we’re returning from a day out, that unmistakable orange building against the sky is the sign that no matter which direction we’re coming from, we’ve arrived.
I wanted to paint it in winter, the season that best captures the quiet warmth of small-town life. In the foreground, a child pulls a freshly cut Christmas tree home by sled, bundled against the cold. In the distance, a neighbour waves from the porch, a small gesture that says everyone here knows everyone, and everyone is looking out for each other. That’s the heart of Schomberg: a community built on these small, repeated moments of belonging.”
We extend our sincere thanks to every artist who shared their creativity and talent with us. The care, thought and time put into each entry were evident, and we are grateful for the wonderful response to this year’s competition.
Congratulations once again to Sherry Paymani! We look forward to seeing her beautiful artwork featured on the 2026 A Main Street Christmas poster.
